Milagros Necklace and Earrings © 2007
To make this necklace and earrings, I started by laminating some found images that I liked of milagros-themed textiles onto mat board pieces that had been previously covered with metallic silver gift wrap scraps on both the front and back. I applied gold embossing powder to the edges. On the backs of the mat board pieces, not visible in this picture, I rubberstamped some complementary images in gold embossing ink and embossed them with the gold embossing powder. I glued some plastic jewels onto the front corners after altering their color with gold acrylic paint and Ancient Page rubber stamp ink. I punched holes for hanging with a small hole puncher and set some silver eyelets into the holes, then I applied a gloss varnish coating. I chose some chain, beads, and antique religious medals from my stash of jewelry parts derived from recycled thrift store jewelry and antique shop finds that were complementary to the laminated pendants, and assembled the jewelry with silver colored findings.
