Introduction to Art Journal Selections

H. Coloring with adults and kids in a house full of art and art books, including prints by possibly my biggest visual art influence

On the occasion that I mentioned earlier when several adults and children were coloring together, we were guests for the weekend in a large house party. The home had a really good collection of prints in the Pop Art and Abstract Expressionist categories. My all-time favorite, Alexander Calder was well represented in prints and books. I had a lot of fun making quick sketches influenced by Calder and others to color in and build on later as I worked on my art journals. This experience put me on a run of using primary colors in some of my work which I have never before been strongly drawn to but I appreciate the creative stretching I've been doing during the past year.
