In September 1996, there was an event downtown called "A Taste of St. Louis". I heard that some art cars were going to be there, so I showed up with my camera and had a fantastic time photographing the art cars, definitely one of my favorite subjects. Here are some of the pictures I took that day. Maybe some day I'll have my own arty vehicle. Until then, I'll content myself with collecting art car pictures, books, calendars, postcards, and other memorabilia.
It is said that this van belongs to the owners of the Venice Cafe in South St. Louis. I have seen it parked there. The following two pictures are detail shots of the van.
I'm not sure who owns this one but I've seen it several times around St. Louis.
Here is a detail of another local car I've also seen on several occasions.
This car artist came all the way from Alabama. Her accent was so cool!
This man brought two vehicles with him from Maine.
Here is Father Time, owner of a patriotic bus, working the crowd. You can just barely see a leg of the Arch between the buildings. To see a picture of his bus (and read a review of a movie on art cars), go here.
